The Green Dot Fund for Enrichment Programs
Purpose: The purpose of the Green Dot Fund for Enrichment Programs is to help schools get funding for special projects that their budgets do not provide support for. Examples of potential projects include funding for athletic uniforms, band equipment, field trips, and classroom equipment.
Funding: For the 2009-10 school year, Green Dot is establishing the Fund with an initial grant of $50,000. All Green Dot school staff members (administrators, teachers, and staff) are eligible to apply.
All applications will be due on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009. Although in the past years the grants have been given out in multiple sessions, this year all funding will be distributed in one session. As long as your program will occur in the 2009-10 school year, and has not already been funded by your school, it will qualify for consideration.
What we are looking for:
- The Fund for Enrichment Programs is looking to fund projects that will have long-lasting effects on the schools and/or programs that reach a large number of students. We prefer to fund materials and equipment which can be used over and over again to enable many classes of students to benefit from the program, or programs that enable most/all of the school to benefit throughout the year.
- Budgets that are well thought-out and account for all costs. Be sure to think about taxes and shipping costs when filling out your application.
- Well written applications which address all questions and are logical. This is a grant program which makes awards based on the quality of applications; it is not funding that is guaranteed to be evenly split between each school.
- Programs that provide unique opportunities for the students which would not ordinarily be paid for in a school’s regular budget.
What we cannot fund:
- Stipends or salaries to Green Dot teachers or students
- Reimbursements
- Programs which are already functioning and budgeted for at your school
Procedure: Applicants may submit proposals at any time to Aviva Altmann, Coordinator of After School Programs, at aaltmann@greendot.org. All applications will be graded based on the rubric attached; they can receive a score of up to 50 points. The highest ranked applications will receive funding. All scores will be reviewed by a committee of Home Office employees to ensure fairness in grading.
If your project is awarded funding, Green Dot’s purchasing department will order the products or service and pay the vendor for the granted amount or amount of total invoice, whichever is less. You will be notified of your funding by January 15th, 2010, and should receive all items by the end of the school year- pending on your project’s start and end date.
