Philosophy
A key aspect of Green Dot's strategy is to provide an excellent college-prep education with the same funding that traditional public schools receive. The Home Office fundraises approximately $1.5 million in start up costs for each school, but the school budgets are modeled so that each school is fully funded once it reaches full capacity with grades 9-12.
In reality, so far every Animo school has run a budget deficit even past its fourth year of operation, primarily because of facilities costs. In 2008-09, Green Dot will fundraise to cover a $7.2 million deficit for all of the schools, including a $259,000 deficit for the Founding Five schools.
We also know that teachers may need additional resources in order to provide the best learning experience possible. Students, too, may want to fundraise for sports teams, clubs, and other activities. Although the Home Office cannot do this fundraising for you, we want to support your efforts as much as possible.
So here are some resources. Good luck, and please let me know if you have any suggestions or additions to this section of the intranet.
