Here is a brief list of grants available. Please feel free to visit the website for more up to date information and more detailed specifications.

•    Edison International New Era: Edison offers funds for any science, environment and/ or energy conservation projects. The grant ranges from $5,000 - $10,000. The application is available online www.sce.com/CommunityandRecreation/Education/TeacherGrants/Default.htm

•    Lowe’s Outdoor Classroom Grant: Lowe’s in partnership with National Geographics will fund anywhere from $2,000- $10,000 to build/restore an outside classroom. To apply for this grant, an outline/illustration must be provided along with the application demonstrating what the outside classroom plan is. The deadlines are July 30th and December 31st of every year.  Please refer to the website for the application www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn

•    AIAA Classroom Grants: This grant is meant for the science, math and technology department. In order to receive the grant, the applicant must become  member which is simple, and free. Just log on to the website and apply for membership. Secondly, the application must be completed before January, March, June or September. The grant offers up to $200 per individual applicant and $1000 per school. Please go to the website for the application and further details www.aiaa.org/content.cfm

•    Qwizdom: This award is in means of Qwizdom supplies. Qwizdom is a system that allows for a Jeopardy-like experience in the classroom. The system is composed of individual keypads for each student that responds to questions on the main screen and the results are sent to the teacher’s system. It is meant to increase student participation in the classroom. The whole system is estimated at a $4,000 value. The deadline is in May of every year. •    Lead America: Lead America provides a grant for the enhancement of the curriculum. Grants vary from $500 - $1500. Deadline is November 2007. Please refer to the website for the application and further details www.lead-america.org/educator/grant/app.asp

•    Toshiba America Foundation grant: The grant is meant to assist in the education of Math, and/or science, amounts vary. For further details and application please refer to the website www.toshiba.com/tafpub/jsp/about/HowApply.jsp

•    Symbol Technologies: The grant is meant for organizations/ schools that support and assist under represented groups such as Latinos and African Americans. The amount of the grant varies and there is no set deadline. Applications are evaluated quaterly. Application is available online at www.symbol.com/category.php

•    Charles LaFitte Foundation Grant: The only requirement is a proposal of what this money would be used for. The proposal cannot exceed 10 pages double-spaced and must be emailed to Jennifer Vertetis (jennifer@charleslafitte.org). There is no deadline.
